Sammy Hagar made his name in the music world due to his roles in bands like Montrose and Van Halen, but these days, he’s just as focused on his businesses as he is on music. Embracing the laidback beach vibe that has become his signature, Hagar is shifting gears and making major moves with that feeling he sells to the masses. Now, with a clear vision, he’s preparing to take his venture to the next level.
Hagar revealed during a podcast appearance on The Kenny Aronoff Sessions, “I want a resort: Sammy’s Resort World.” He went on to explain that the resort would be “Everything Sammy. Basically, Sammy’s Island. Like, if you went to my island, I’d have everything there for you. The food I like to eat, the drink I like to drink. You’ll be listening to my music and other people’s music that I like.”
The resort’s inspiration seemingly comes from Hagar’s successful Cabo Wabo brand, known for its tequila, restaurants, nightclubs and even a poolside beach club. These businesses he already owns and runs would be seamlessly integrated into his resort, alongside a performance space named Stage Red where Hagar would share his music and memories.
To Hagar, this isn’t just an idea, it’s something he’s determined to make a reality. “Now, this is my dream, OK,” the musician commented during the podcast chat. “It’s going to happen. I’m telling you it’s going to happen.”
Considering the resort’s location, Hagar’s affinity for the beach makes it pretty clear where it might appear. “I have to have a coast to be happy,” he remarked, emphasizing his desire for a beachfront paradise. He did, however, playfully consider other possibilities. “Vegas has got everything,” Hagar joked. “It’s got a beach. ‘You want to put it on the beach, well, we’ll make a beach. Come on, and we make a beach for you. A son of a beach.’”
Hagar’s The Cabo Wabo brand has expanded into a multifaceted enterprise that spans dining, spirits, and entertainment. Some have come and gone, but ultimately, the brand is highly successful, and it seems to expand into new territories regularly.
In addition to his many business ventures, Hagar is still busy making music, which made him a star in the first place. He’s constantly touring, and he releases new work regularly. He dropped his most recent album, Crazy Times, in 2022.
