It’s been nearly a year since Selena Gomez has released any new music, and in the interim, she’s been busy with other projects, such as her several successful TV ventures. But now mysterious clues have popped up on the internet, and it seems like the singer and actress is gearing up to give her following something new to listen to.
Several eagle-eyed fans of Gomez found a website that was recently published, illbesinglesoon.com. The page features nothing but the words “Single Soon?” in big bold red letters. That’s not much of a clue, but scrolling down shows why fans believe this is connected to the singer.
The page is registered to Interscope Records, Gomez’s record label. As if that wasn’t enough of a hint, there are also several social media icons at the bottom of the website, and all of them take viewers to Gomez’s Instagram, Twitter, and more. That makes it pretty obvious who this is attached to, as well as that it’s connected to her music career.
It seems that Interscope Records is promoting a new single from Gomez, and not just online. Several fans have also spotted the same words, “Single Soon?” printed on flyers that have been posted in some cities in the U.S. The papers have the same look, colors, and fonts, and are clearly connected to the website. There’s also a phone number that people can dial into, which also features cryptic messages that tease a new song.
“Single soon” could be cheekily asking Gomez is she’s releasing a single soon, or it could be the title of the song she’s working on, which would be a pretty meta way to handle this marketing plan.
The timing for a new Gomez single makes sense, so it’s not hard to believe that she’s getting ready for at least a new song, if not a new musical era. Gomez last released a single in the fall of 2022 when her tune “My Mind & Me” came attached to the documentary about the singer of the same name. Her last full album, Rare, dropped in 2020.
While she has been relatively quiet when it comes to new releases, Gomez has been succeeding on the charts for months now. The pop superstar teamed up with Afrobeats musician Rema for a reworking of his song “Calm Down,” which was released last summer. The two have spent the past year pushing the cut up the Hot 100, where it stalled at No. 3 just a few months ago. The track is still present inside the top 10 and is approaching a year on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S.
