BTS’s Jung Kook has done it again, as his hit “Seven” is still ruling the world. The song has claimed the top spot on the Billboard Global 200, a chart that ranks songs based on how much they’re streamed and sold worldwide. This catchy tune has stuck around long enough that Jung Kook is now on par with some of the biggest stars ever on this list.
For six weeks straight, “Seven” has been sitting pretty at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200. This is a big deal because it’s one of the longest stretches that a song has held this position since the chart began a few years back. Alongside his collaborator Latto, Jung Kook now shares this accomplishment with three other big hits. Right now, all those cuts share the record for being the sixth-longest-running leaders on this important chart.
Jung Kook and Latto’s “Seven” is now in the same league as other famous songs like Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U,” Adele’s “Easy On Me,” and Glass Animals’s “Heat Waves.” These songs also enjoyed six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 before they slowly dropped down the list.
It’s not clear yet if “Seven” will follow the same path and slip after half a dozen frames at No. 1 or if it will stick around for a seventh turn atop the tally–the song’s name does suggest that possibility, though.
“Seven” made its grand entrance at the top of the Billboard Global 200 more than a month ago, and it hasn’t budged since then. This is no small feat, considering the strong competition it faced, especially from country musicians in the U.S. who had big hits globally. Despite these new entrants, “Seven” keeps performing well, showing that people still love it even after all this time on the chart.
In the past week, “Seven” gathered just under 100 million streams from around the world. Platforms like Spotify and Apple Music played a big role in keeping the song popular on the Billboard Global 200. Even though the song sold about 2,000 copies worldwide this time, which isn’t nearly as much as before, a new remix might boost those numbers in the next round. This latest take on the tune could help “Seven” hold onto its top spot on the chart.
