Orchard Street has a new place to drink and eat small plates.
Carlota, a tapas bar and vermuteria will open at 14a Orchard St. on Tuesday, September 12.
The space will have an intimate 32-seat dining room with classic banquette seating and exposed brick walls. A 10-seat bar area and limited sidewalk tables will also offer cozy seating options and the ambiance of a Spanish plaza.
With rich tones, retro elements, warm lighting, and captivating paintings, Carlota’s decor draws inspiration from Spanish movie director and screenwriter, Pedro Almodóvar and the essence of his iconic characters.
Carlota’s beverage menu is curated to create a low-key, high-energy Spanish tapas bars. Vermouth service from 10 different bottles is offered, along with fresh sangria and cocktails. To eat, menu highlights include Spanish classics like jamon serrano croquetas, patatas bravas with pimenton aioli, boquerones with white anchovy fillet, and octopus ala plancha. Some dishes will also have a New York and global spin, such as pan con tomate on Sullivan Street Bakery Bread, a chorizo katsu sando, and pan-seared cod with potato foam and caramelized onions.
Carlota will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5pm-11pm, Thursday-Saturday from 5pm-1am, with daily happy hour from 5pm – 7pm.
