BTS’s Jung Kook Breaks His Historic Tie With Miley Cyrus

News Room

No matter what comes along, it seems no song can topple Jung Kook’s “Seven.” The BTS singer and solo star has scored a huge hit with his breakout cut, which is the biggest track in the world once again. The tune leads the Billboard Global 200 once more, and as it earns another stay in the ranking’s penthouse, it helps the musician behind the behemoth break an important and historic tie.

Last week, “Seven” reached its sixth stint at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. That success helped Jung Kook tie with Miley Cyrus in a very specific and impressive fashion. The two tunes—”Seven” and Cyrus’s “Flowers”—were the only ones in the world in 2023 to debut at No. 1 on the all-encompassing ranking of the most-consumed titles in the world and then hold there for half a dozen turns. That’s an incredible accomplishment, but it doesn’t stop there…for one of the two artists.

This week, “Seven” is in charge of the Billboard Global 200 for a seventh turn, and the tune is now no longer on the same level as Cyrus and her worldwide hit “Flowers.” Cyrus’s smash slipped from the highest rung on the chart after half a dozen spins, but Jung Kook isn’t done just yet.

This frame, “Seven” rules the Billboard Global 200 thanks to a gain in both streams and sales. The tune racked up 97 million plays on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple
AAPL
Music. At the same time, it sold 12,000 copies, according to Billboard. Those sums are both up from last time around when it only sold 2,000 copies and earned under 95 million streams.

With a seventh week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, “Seven” also moves up once again on the all-time list of the tunes that have spent the most frames in charge of the tally. Last time around, it was tied with major hits like Adele’s “Hello,” Glass Animals’s “Heat Waves,” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U,” which all managed half a dozen stays in the penthouse. Now, it’s passed all of those wins, and depending on how much longer it rules, it could soon make more matches and break even more records.
