On Wednesday, Tesla (NASDAQ:)’s China branch made an announcement about a significant achievement at their Shanghai facility. Through their social media channels, the company shared that Giga Shanghai has reached the remarkable milestone of manufacturing its two millionth vehicle in less than four years since the plant commenced its operations.
The EV maker posted a photograph commemorating this achievement, showcasing the Giga Shanghai team alongside a newly-produced red Tesla Model Y. In the picture, various team members were captured holding signs and balloons, coming together to mark this special moment with a celebratory photo.
It took a total of 33 months for the facility to manufacture its first one million vehicles, but only 13 months before the next one million vehicles were produced. The production pace suggests that reaching Giga Shanghai’s three millionth car will likely happen even faster.
Tesla China revealed this past July that the facility had successfully manufactured its one millionth Model Y crossover vehicle.
Shares of TSLA are down 2.22% in mid-day trading Wednesday.
