Jung Kook Breaks His Tie With Adele As ‘Seven’ Holds As A Global Smash

News Room

Jung Kook and Latto are non-movers at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 this week with their joint single “Seven.” The tune is steady atop the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the world, and with another turn at the top, the smash helps the singers behind it break out of a tie with several other superstars.

“Seven” has now led the charge on the Billboard Global 200 for seven weeks, which seems fitting, given the tune’s title. With a seventh week at No. 1 to its credit, Jung Kook and Latto pass four other hit singles, which all stepped down from the summit after half a dozen stays in the penthouse. That collective of smashes includes Adele’s “Easy on Me,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U,” Glass Animals’s “Heat Waves,” and Eslabón Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola.”

While it may be advancing on this all-time list, “Seven” still has a way to go before it matches the longest-running leader in the history of the Billboard Global 200. The record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 on the chart is held by Harry Styles. The pop-rocker’s “As It Was” managed an incredible 15 frames atop the tally before slowly descending.

In between “Seven” and “As It Was” are four other hit singles. Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” both ruled the Billboard Global 200 for 13 weeks, tying one another as the longest-running leader among women. The only other cut to hold at No. 1 for double-digit frames is “Stay” by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber.

Just ahead of “Seven” at the moment is another smash by Rodrigo, who has enjoyed incredible success on the Billboard Global 200 since her debut. Her breakout single “Drivers License” controlled the worldwide ranking for eight weeks in 2021. Later that year, her song “Good 4 U” would almost match that showing, with six frames spent at the top.

“Seven” earns another week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 thanks to continued massive consumption among the BTS singer’s fans all around the planet. This frame, the tune, marketed as his first on his own, racked up another 97 million streams. It was also purchased 12,000 times, according to Billboard. A new remix by producer Alesso helping inflate that sum considerably from the week prior.
