Olivia Rodrigo has made a triumphant return to the top of the Billboard 200 chart this week with her eagerly anticipated sophomore album, Guts. The full-length’s debut at No. 1 has marked one of the most significant album launches of 2023, and in doing so, it has reshaped the ranking of this year’s biggest chart-topping releases.
Guts earns a sizable entrance at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, amassing a total of 302,000 equivalent units. This impressive figure encompasses a combination of album sales, streaming and track sale equivalents. The Billboard 200 is a weekly ranking of the most consumed titles in the United States.
Rodrigo’s Guts secures the distinction of being the fourth-largest debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2023. With its impressive launch sum, the Grammy-winning artist has unseated Stray Kids, propelling them to fifth place on this fiercely competitive list.
Earlier this year, the K-pop boy band scored their latest No. 1 with their album 5-Star, which began its chart journey with just under 250,000 equivalent units. The title now holds the position of the fifth-largest debut on the Billboard 200 in 2023.
Taylor Swift currently boasts the most substantial debut atop the Billboard 200 in 2023. Her latest re-recording, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), stormed the chart’s summit with a staggering 716,000 equivalent units during its first week of availability.
The only other album to start its journey on the chart with over half a million copies is Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time. The country project, which has since solidified its status as one of the most successful titles of 2023, debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with an impressive 501,000 equivalent units shifted.
Sitting just ahead of Rodrigo and Guts on the 2023 leaderboard is Travis Scott. The rapper’s latest No. 1 release Utopia began its tenure on the Billboard 200 with a commendable 496,000 equivalent units, narrowly missing the coveted half-million mark.
