Drake and SZA are set to debut their joint single “Slime You Out” atop the Hot 100 when Billboard refreshes its charts tomorrow (Tuesday, September 26). The music magazine revealed that the two artists will claim the No. 1 song in America in just a few hours, bringing both back to the summit. With another leader on the important ranking, Drake ties two of the most successful artists of all time.
“Slime You Out” will mark Drake’s twelfth No. 1 hit on the Hot 100, which is an incredible sum that very few artists have managed to reach. With a dozen chart-toppers now included in his discography, the Canadian rapper is about to be on the same level as both Madonna and The Supremes, with all three sharing the record for the fifth-most No. 1s on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in America.
The record for the most No. 1 hits in Hot 100 history still belongs to The Beatles. The rock band collected an astounding 20 leaders in a relatively short span of time. Mariah Carey is just behind the Fab Four, as she’s nabbed 19 chart-rulers. Rounding out the top five artists who have scored the most No. 1s on the Hot 100 are Rihanna, with 14, and Michael Jackson, with 13.
Drake is regularly earning new No. 1 hits on the Hot 100, so he could increase that 12 number very soon. He last hit the top spot on the chart in 2022 with a pair of leaders. He ruled alongside 21 Savage on “Jimmy Cooks” and with Future and Tems on “Wait for U.” He also snagged two winners in 2021 as well with both “Way 2 Sexy” with Future and Young Thug and “What’s Next.”
“Slime You Out” serves as the second official single from Drake’s forthcoming album For All The Dogs. The title was originally scheduled to drop this past Friday, but days before it was released, the rapper moved it into early October. When the set does arrive, it could produce more Hot 100 hits, and perhaps even spin off another champion, which Drake has done before.
If, or more likely when, Drake earns another No. 1 on the Hot 100, he will break his tie with Madonna and The Supremes, likely for good. He will then tie Jackson for the fourth-most champions ever, and he could continue to rack up rulers from there.
This week, “Slime You Out” will open at No. 1 thanks largely to its success on streaming platforms. According Billboard, the single arrives with 32.6 million streams on sites like Spotify and Apple
