While Miley Cyrus recently gave fans something new to listen to with her latest single “Used To Be Young,” the spotlight remains on her previous hit, “Flowers.” The chart-topping sensation continues to dominate various Billboard rankings, making history this time around as it clings to its No. 1 position.
“Flowers” shows remarkable resilience as it maintains the top spot on the Adult Contemporary chart, a weekly ranking of the most popular songs on radio stations in the U.S. that specialize in adult contemporary pop. Impressively, Cyrus’s hit single has now reigned supreme for an impressive 25 weeks, securing another spot in the record books.
According to Billboard, Cyrus’s latest feat sees her passing Adele, breaking their tie for the longest consecutive stay at No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart by a female artist. Adele’s “Easy on Me” had previously held the record, as it reigned at No. 1 for a remarkable 24 weeks before gradually descending.
When considering all artists, “Flowers” ranks as the fourth-longest-running No. 1 on the history of the Adult Contemporary chart. At the top of the list is Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You,” with an incredible 36 weeks at No. 1. Following closely behind is The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” with 35 weeks. Cyrus’s hit song is nestled right behind “Drift Away” by Uncle Kracker and Dobie Gray, which spent 28 weeks in the spotlight.
“Flowers” shows no signs of slowing down, leaving the door open for Cyrus to continue her chart-topping streak on the Adult Contemporary chart in the weeks to come. With its enduring popularity, Cyrus could soon match Kracker and Gray, making her hit the third-longest-charting No. 1 song in the history of the tally.
