Blackpink Singer Jennie Announces Another Solo Single, ‘You & Me’

News Room

K-pop sensation Jennie, who may be best-known as a member of the globally renowned girl group Blackpink, has exciting news for fans worldwide. The singer recently announced the impending release of a new solo single, and it’s coming very soon.

Jennie’s forthcoming solo single is titled “You & Me.” The tune is set to arrive on download stores and streaming platforms later this week, on Friday, October 6.

The news of Jennie’s latest offering was shared on Blackpink’s official Instagram account, sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation. The band’s account posted the single cover, which sees Jennie standing in front of the moon in a beautiful red dress. While no snippet of the song was made available, the artwork provided and the title make it seem like this upcoming track might be a romantic one.

“You & Me” will mark Jennie’s first solo material in five years. She became the first member of Blackpink to release music outside of the group back in 2018. That year, she dropped her only track on her own this far, the aptly-titled “Solo.” It was a minor hit on a handful of Billboard charts, but it set the stage for the other singers in the quartet to go solo later on.

Jennie did manage to debut on a handful of Billboard lists earlier this year with her song “One of the Girls,” though she wasn’t alone in that win. The tune was fronted by The Weeknd, as it was written and recorded for his TV show The Idol, which featured Jennie. The song was an R&B hit of sorts, and it also credited actress Lily Rose-Depp.

According to music industry media outlet NME, Jennie has been teasing “You & Me” for some time now. During Blackpink’s recent Born Pink World Tour, which recently concluded, the tune was reportedly premiered on the first night of the trek. A remixed take on the unreleased cut was also apparently played as Blackpink headlined Coachella earlier in 2023.
