Months after releasing his debut solo single, Jung Kook is back and aiming to conquer the world once again. Just days after the singer dropped his latest track, it appears to be heading for a historic debut in one of the largest music markets globally.
Jung Kook’s new single “3D,” which also features hip-hop musician Jack Harlow, is currently positioned near the top of the Official Chart Company’s mid-week ranking. This list offers a preview of what might transpire on the weekly songs chart, which is officially unveiled on Fridays. Presently, “3D” sits in the No. 2 spot on the chart.
While the mid-week charts published by the Official Charts Company, which can be thought of as the U.K.’s version of Billboard, aren’t always precise, they do offer valuable insights into how certain new releases are performing. While it’s not confirmed that “3D” will debut at No. 2 on the U.K. singles chart, early data suggests that the song will open in a highly respectable position.
If “3D” does indeed start at No. 2—or potentially even No. 1—it will mark Jung Kook’s highest placement on the U.K. chart to date. His first official single outside of BTS, “Seven,” featuring rapper Latto, peaked at No. 3 this summer. Jung Kook has also made appearances on the chart with two other solo tracks, but neither managed to break into the top 40.
A debut at No. 2 would also make “3D” the highest-charting song by any of the BTS members or the group itself in the U.K. So far, the septet has seen three different singles reach the No. 3 position in the U.K.: “Butter,” “Dynamite,” and “My Universe” with Coldplay, all having stalled in the third place spot.
