Metallica fans have reason to rejoice as the iconic hard rock band is set to re-release their first five classic albums on limited edition colored vinyl…and they won’t have to wait long before the rollout begins.
Each month starting this November and running into next March will see the re-release of one of the group’s most beloved projects, this time on particularly vibrant 180g collector’s edition vinyl.
The newly-announced re-release series begins with Kill ‘Em All, which is slated to arrive on November 3, just in time for holiday shoppers to pick up a copy. The violently-titled collection will be bright red—the band calls it “Jump In The Fire Engine Red”—and will feature the audio that was remastered in 2016.
Next up will be Ride The Lightning, which is scheduled for December 1. It will be Mae available on “Electric Blue” vinyl, and like its predecessor, it will also feature the 2016 remastered audio.
Metallica will kick off 2024 with the re-release of their blockbuster albums Master of Puppets on January 5. The “Battery Brick” colored offering will play the title’s 2017 remastered audio.
In February, the band’s …And Justice for All arrives as a double LP in a shade the group is calling “Dyers Green.” That set will be pressed with the remastered audio from the year 2018.
This vinyl re-release project concludes in March, on the first, with The Black Album. That title will also drop as a double LP, and it will come in a marbled black color. The title was remastered in 2021, and it’s that audio that fans will hear if they purchase a copy.
Vinyl records have experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, and this move by Metallica to re-release their classic albums in limited edition colored editions is sure to delight collectors and fans. It’s also a great way for the band to make some more money from their already-successful collections, while exciting those who love that music the most.
