Madonna finally kicked off her highly-anticipated Celebration Tour in London at the O2 Arena this past weekend after a lengthy delay. The trek is meant to celebrate her biggest hits—of which there are many—and she incorporates tunes from four decades of her career. Fans seemingly loved every minute of the concert, and it was made even more special by the presence of most of her children.
The Queen of Pop didn’t just welcome some of her biggest and most ardent supporters, she made the night a family affair. During the two-hour set, almost all of Madonna’s children joined her on stage at one point or another, showcasing their musical talents.
Madonna’s 27-year-old daughter, Lourdes, joined the singer as a judge during a vogueing competition. The fake showing took place during, what else, a performance of her smash single “Vogue.” The two watched as 11-year-old Estere vogued and danced down the runway to the rhythm of Madonna’s hit. Unsurprisingly, she earned perfect scores of 10s across the board.
Stella, Estere’s twin sister, made and appearance as well, though not during the “Vogue” segment. Instead, she joined her mom during her performance of the single “Don’t Tell Me.”
David, Madonna’s 18-year-old son, showed that musical ability runs in the family, as he played guitar alongside his pop star mom during “Let’s Go Crazy” and “Mother and Father.” For some of the time, he was sitting and playing several feet above the ground.
Madonna’s 17-year-old daughter, Mercy, showcased her piano skills as she accompanied her mom’s performance of the hit “Bad Girl” from the Erotica album.
Notably absent from the stage was Madonna’s son Rocco, who is 23. Whether he will join his mother on subsequent stops of the Celebration Tour remains uncertain. It’s also not entirely clear if all five of Madonna’s offspring will be present during all of the stops on the trek or if they simply joined her for the opening night.
The Celebration Tour initially faced a delay of several months due to Madonna’s hospitalization during the summer. She battled a bacterial infection that necessitated the postponement of much of the tour, but the dates have now been rescheduled.
