The CW, which has shifted its programming template from original to predominantly acquired international product, has announced a second season for the British comedy Everyone Else Burns. The series debuts on The CW on Thursday, October 26 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Made for Channel 4 by JAX Media and Universal International Studios, Everyone Else Burns is described as a coming-of-age sitcom about a Manchester family who are part of a puritanical Christian sect.
The logline: Everyone Else Burns follows the Lewises, a strictly religious family who believe the world will end within the decade. Patriarch David (Simon Bird, Friday Night Dinner, The Inbetweeners) predicts the world will conclude in apocalypse and is losing a grip over his family, with each character going on their own personal journey with regard their hyper-religious upbringing. Fiona (Kate O’Flynn, Landscapers) hungers for a life beyond sermons and squash. Aaron (Harry Connor) is a model young believer – except his drawings feature the rest of the family burning in hell. And anxious 17-year-old Rachel (Amy James-Kelly, Three Families, Military Wives) is about to fall for someone who could save her social life, but also damn her soul.
Penned by Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor, Everyone Else Burns premiered in the UK on Channel 4 on January 23, 2023. The first season consists of six half-hour episodes.
“Everyone Else Burns is a brilliant and bitingly funny series that is as much about family as it is about the end of days,” said Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW in a statement. “There is truly no other comedy on television like it, and we are thrilled to work alongside the immensely talented writers and producers to bring the uniquely hilarious Lewis family to The CW for another season.”
Everyone Else Burns is part of The CW’s revamped Thursday night comedy line-up, which features Son of a Critch, Run the Burbs, Children Ruin Everything from 8-9:30 p.m. ET into Everyone Else Burns.
