The Crown, the fictional TV series about Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, is coming to an end. The anticipated release comes more than a year after the death of Her Majesty, the longest-reigning monarch in Britain’s history. Creator Peter Morgan described the series as a “love letter” to the late 96-year-old monarch.

Morgan recently told Variety that he was compelled to change the direction of the final season after the Queen’s passing. “We’d all been through the experience of the funeral,” he said in the interview. “So because of how deeply everybody will have felt that, I had to try and find a way in which the final episode dealt with the character’s death, even though she hadn’t died yet.”
Netflix chief Ted Sarandos added that preliminary talks debated whether season six should conclude with the Queen’s death. Ultimately, they decided to end the program’s timeline in 2005. “It was the cutoff to keep it historical, not journalistic,” he explained. “I think by stopping almost 20 years before the present day, it’s dignified.”
When will The Crown season six air?
For the first time, The Crown season six will be divided into two parts for release. The first part is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Nov. 16, with part two to follow on Dec. 14.

Although the child actors from the previous season will be replaced by older counterparts, the majority of the cast members from season five are anticipated to reprise their roles for season six. This includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles.
