Amazon Outlet: From home goods to electronics

News Room
  • Amazon Outlet is home to thousands of overstocked and clearance items across all Amazon categories.
  • It’s an oft-ignored section, but one savvy shoppers must be aware of.

For deal-seekers browsing Amazon, there’s an oft-overlooked corner brimming with discounts: Amazon Outlet.

While Amazon Warehouse attracts shoppers by offering deals on open-box, refurbished, and recently returned items, Amazon Outlet serves a different but equally compelling purpose: it is the online destination for overstocked and clearance items that span across all product categories.

Whether you’re in the market for out-of-season household items or miscellaneous gadgets, Amazon Outlet provides a selection of discounted goods often missed by casual shoppers.

Amazon Outlet is not necessarily the go-to place for discounts on high-end brands like Apple, Sony, or Bose. However, for the savvy customer who prioritizes function over brand names, this section offers a bounty of cost-saving options.

Access to Amazon Outlet is straightforward. Shoppers can navigate to this hidden gem via both the mobile app and by using web browsers. On the app, one can find Amazon Outlet by tapping on the three vertical lines in the bottom right, selecting Deals & Savings, and finally choosing Amazon Outlet.

For those on desktop, the outlet is directly accessible at amazon.com/outlet. Importantly, there are no additional fees for using Amazon Outlet, making it a cost-effective option for bargain hunters.

Amazon Outlet is not the same as Amazon Warehouse. Whereas Amazon Outlet sells overstock or clearance items, Amazon Warehouse sells refurbished goods as well as open-box items and recently returned goods.

Does Amazon have an outlet store?

While Amazon does not have a physical outlet store in the traditional sense, the company has multiple physical retail locations under its brands Amazon Fresh, Amazon Go, and Amazon Style.

While Amazon Fresh is available online, it also has 44 locations spread across eight states and Washington DC. Fresh focuses on selling fresh produce and groceries. A large draw of Amazon Fresh is that it allows customers to skip the checkout line by scanning their products while they shop using the mobile app and checking out through the app. However, customers who prefer to check out with a human cashier still have that option.

Amazon considers Amazon Go “a new kind of corner store.” Using “Just Walk Out” shopping, customers can pick up, bag what they want, and walk out: their account will be automatically charged for what they took. Amazon Go locations are in Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, and New York.

Amazon Style locations are Amazon’s physical stores for clothing, footwear, and accessories. The two locations that are currently open are in Glendale, California, and Columbus, Ohio.
