The Steam Deck Gets An OLED Upgrade With Improved Battery Life

News Room

It didn’t take long, but we now have a new OLED Steam Deck with improved battery life. It will no doubt blow my mind all over again.

Released on November 16, the starting OLED model costs $549, with a limited edition 1TB version costing $679.

The biggest change that’s being touted is the new and very shiny OLED screen, but there are a swathe of other improvements as well.

The biggest and most notable, for me at least, is an improved battery. This was probably the only aspect of the original LCD screen Steam Deck that was an issue for me.

In the time since I reviewed that Steam Deck, I have also put a lot more time into it. Having finished all three endings of Armored Core VI on it (among other things).

I still stand by my review and it is a genuinely impressive piece of kit, so this new OLED version is no doubt going to blow me away.

One additional thing that I think is cool, is that on the official site for the new OLED Steam Deck, they show some 8BitDo hardware, notably their excellent arcade stick.

So it’s nice to know that people at Valve have taste when it comes to gaming peripherals.

If you want a pretty detailed breakdown of the new OLED Steam Deck, then Digital Foundry have done a quick rundown of the device (shown below).

The Asian release of the Steam Deck will also be again handled by Komodo, and their site is also up if you want to pre-order it.
