The Beatles are back! The band recently released a comeback single of sorts, though it’s being labeled their last track ever. “Now and Then” arrived a little more than a week ago, and it’s not surprising that it has become a quick success. It managed an early start on several Billboard charts, including one that the group has never appeared on before.
“Now and Then” debuts on this week’s edition of the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. Billboard compiles the list every week, and it tracks the tunes that perform best at radio stations in the U.S. to focus on either rock or alternative music, or perhaps both. The Beatles’ new single opens at No. 37 on the ranking.
According to Billboard, the song racked up 1.1 million audience impressions, enough to send it to the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. That’s a huge sum, considering the single was released on Thursday, November 2–the last day of the tracking week. That means that in only a matter of hours, “Now and Then” still managed to rank as one of the top 40 most popular cuts at rock and alternative radio in the U.S.
Now that “Now and Then” has finished its first full week of availability, chances are it will soar on the Billboard charts when they’re refreshed in a matter of hours. The tune will likely make noticeable gains on several lists, including the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart.
“Now and Then” was a quick hit, as the world was eager to hear new music from the most successful band of all time. The tune instantly opened at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, ranking as the bestselling track in the country. It also appeared on several other rock-focused rankings, due to intense consumption in the first few hours it was available to play and buy. The track is expected to hit the Hot 100 very soon, bringing the group back to the most competitive ranking of songs in America.
