Jung Kook’s debut solo album Golden has arrived, and it has become a certified win on the Billboard charts. The songs featured on the title have all also become charting hits on a number of important rankings, with the latest single from the project outperforming the most successful band of all time.
“Standing Next To You” opens at No. 1 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling tracks in the U.S. According to data shared by Luminate, the tune arrives atop the tally with 84,000 digital copies sold. That’s not just enough for the track to quickly claim the summit, but to outsell every other tune by a huge margin.
Down to second place on the latest edition of the Digital Song Sales chart is “Now and Then” by The Beatles. The track opened at No. 1 last frame after only a few hours of activity, but the band couldn’t compete with Jung Kook to earn a second turn atop the tally.
“Now and Then” slips one rung to No. 2 by selling another 16,200 copies via online storefronts, according to Luminate. That means that Jung Kook outsold the new smash from The Beatles more than five times over when looking specifically at digital sales (as both were also made available on a physical format as well).
“Standing Next To You” serves as the third and possibly final single from Golden. Its huge first-week sales sum helps it launch inside the top five on the Hot 100, giving the BTS star another important placement inside that region.
Jung Kook claims seven spots inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week with tunes featured on the album, proving that he’s a massive seller. “Standing Next To You” marks the singer’s fifth trip to the summit, which ranks him among the most successful South Korean artists in terms of the number of leaders in history.
