Jimmy Buffett Posthumously Hits No. 1 On Two Billboard Charts For The First Time

News Room

Just months after he passed away unexpectedly after a private battle with cancer, Jimmy Buffett has managed something incredible. The singer-songwriter’s first posthumous album, Equal Strain on All Parts, has arrived, and fans rushed to support it the minute it dropped. Now, the title has given the musician his first No. 1 hit on several Billboard charts.

Equal Strain on All Parts debuts at No. 1 on three Billboard charts this week, proving that Buffett still has a sizable fan base. The posthumous set gives the singer his first leader on a pair of rankings, as the title launches atop both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums tallies.

While it might mark his first No. 1 on both of those charts, Buffett isn’t actually new to either of them. Equal Strain on All Parts marks his fifth top 10 win on those two lists and his seventh placement overall.

Equal Strain on All Parts also launches atop the Top Americana Albums chart. Buffett has ruled that ranking once before. The new project also marks his fifth top 10 winner on the list—comprising all of his placements on the ranking.

As it dominates some rankings, Buffett’s set also opens inside the top 10 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Album Sales charts. On the former, the singer-songwriter arrives at No. 6 with 53,000 equivalent album units earned. That sum includes 51,000 pure purchases, which is enough to send the title right to No. 3 on the Top Album Sales tally.
