Today’s ‘Connections’ Hints And Answers For Thursday, November 23

Looking for Wednesday’s Connections hints and answers? You can find them here:

Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating! I hope you’re taking a few minutes between turkey feasts and parades and football and such to play today’s game of Connections.

Thank you to everyone who reads these columns. I’ve really enjoyed putting them together over the last few months. I especially love hearing from those of you who come here after they complete each day’s puzzle just to find out how well I fared (spoiler: a little worse than usual today).

Today’s Connections hints and answers are coming right up.

How To Play Connections

In Connections, you’re presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like horror movie franchises, a type of verb or rappers.

There’s only one solution for each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is typically the hardest one to deduce. The purple group often involves wordplay, so bear that in mind.

Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you’re incorrect, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some hints, and, if you’re really struggling, today’s Connections answers.

Connections Answers For November 23

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are…

  • Yellow group — foods with crusts (PASTY, PIE, TART, TURNOVER)
  • Green group — ending in a silent “T” (BOUQUET, PARFAIT, RAGOUT, RAPPORT)
  • Blue group — countries with red and white flags (JAPAN, POLAND, TUNISIA, TURKEY)
  • Purple group — NBA greats (BIRD, CURRY, JAMES, JORDAN)

Well, of course there were going to be some Thanksgiving-related words today, even if there wasn’t a group along those lines. Although my overall win streak is up to 17, my run of six straight perfect games is over.

The green words caught my eye first. I actually thought those would be the purple words given that group’s usual focus on wordplay. The yellow words were next — those seemed straightforward enough.

I then ran into the biggest Connections hurdle I’ve encountered in a while. I couldn’t figure out what linked four of the five countries, nor did the link between the purple words jump out at me. I went back to my old trial-and-error approach, which can be hit or miss, and thankfully got the blue group with one life to spare. Phew.

Lastly, finding out the connection between the purple words was a big facepalm moment. I should have figured that one out.

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the solution for Friday’s game if you need them.
