Top creators ranking on YouTube’s annual US “breakout creators” list this year included several who mainly post short videos, or Shorts, on the platform, and ranged in categories like gaming, skits, and comedy videos.
The list featured rising-star YouTube channels with the greatest growth in US-based subscribers in 2023, from new creators to existing creators whose subscriber base at least tripled in size compared to subscribers gained in 2022, according to the report. It highlighted names including Alexey Gerasimov, aka DaFuq!?Boom!, the mind behind the mega-viral video series “Skibidi Toilet,” which took the internet by storm thanks to its success among Gen-Alpha kids, and Hew Moran, a creator who films “Fortnite”-themed comedy skits.
