Ozzy Osbourne has not been in good health for some time now, and he’s been forced to cancel a number of concert dates in the past several years. The musician has been open about his issues with his following, and now he’s reportedly planning on giving his fans one last chance to see him as he plots his goodbye.
According to a report by the Mirror, Osbourne is planning to say farewell to his legion of followers with a handful of concerts. The shows, which haven’t been announced properly yet, will take place near his hometown in the Birmingham region of the U.K.
The outlet quotes Osbourne’s wife Sharon, who is also his manager, as confirming that he is working on goodbye concerts, though details are still sparse. “He won’t tour again but we are planning on doing two more shows to say goodbye,” the manager and TV personality stated. She added that the reasoning behind these final concerts is because the rocker “feels like ‘I have never said goodbye to my fans and I want to say goodbye properly’.”
So far, no dates have been revealed for these forthcoming concerts, and there’s no word on when tickets may be made available. Sharon suggested to the publication that they may take place at the Aston Villa stadium, where the local soccer team plays.
Osbourne was forced to step away from touring for good last year. The hard rock legend has been dealing with a Parkinson’s diagnosis, and he experienced a serious fall while at home in 2019, which apparently has made it much more difficult for him to travel and play live. For the past several years, he has scheduled, and then canceled, many dates, angering fans–even those who understand the issues he’s working through.
Sharon insists that despite his failing health and his age–the rocker is 75–he is still ready to perform. “His voice is still absolutely perfect,” Osborne commented to the Mirror. She spoke to her musician husband’s work ethic–even in hard times–explaining that “all the time he has been off he still does his singing lessons so his voice is perfect.”
Throughout his health problems, Osbourne has continued to make music, even if he has a much tougher time playing it live. He returned in 2022 with his latest solo album, Patient Number 9, which went on to debut inside the top 10 on charts in the U.S. and U.K. It also won the celebrated star the Grammy for Best Rock Album.
