New ‘Escape From Tarkov’ Patch To Launch Tomorrow

News Room

Developer Battlestate Games has announced that a new patch for Escape From Tarkov will launch tomorrow, January 24. However, the launch of the new patch will result in three hours of server downtime.

The update will be known as patch 0.14.0.1 for Escape from Tarkov, however, what the patch will include is yet to be revealed, with the patch notes expected to be released when the update goes live tomorrow.

The patch installation will start at 7:00 am GMT / 2:00 am EST and is expected to last for three hours, but could be extended beyond that time. While the patch is being installed Escape From Tarkov servers will be down and the game will be inaccessible.

This will be the first numbered patch for Escape From Tarkov since the 14.0 update and wipe that added the popular Ground Zero map, as well as a whole host of other changes. Since then there have been a few balancing updates, including one that made the BTR on Streets of Tarkov a little easier to use, but this patch is expected to be larger than those.

While there have been no hints as to what will be included in the patch, which is somewhat unusual, the community has a large list of things they want to see included. Easily the most requested feature over recent weeks has been improvements to anti-cheat measures, and potentially a phone number verification service to eliminate people buying multiple accounts that they use to cheat. This is despite Battlestate Games banning over 11,000 cheaters since the start of the year.

Another wish for many, myself included, would be a rework to the Setup quest that requires you to kill 15 PMCs on Customs with a shotgun while wearing a scav vest and ushanka hat. The quest has proven frustrating for many players, and now it is unlocked much earlier it has resulted in the Customs map being filled with players trying to complete this quest.

The other issue that has plagued Tarkov since the most recent wipe is a bug where you could get stuck loading into a scav raid, giving you an infinite timer that could only be fixed by force closing the game and abandoning the scav run. Out of all the community wishes this seems like the most likely to be fixed in the new patch. However, we will have to wait for the full patch notes before we know for sure.
