Strands is the latest game from The New York Times, and it’s definitely an instant favorite for a lot of people.

Read on to get a little help with today’s puzzle.

How To Play Strands

The New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a play on the classic word search. It’s in beta for now, which means it’ll only stick around if enough people play it every day.

There’s a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you’ll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue.

You’ll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links two opposite sides of the board. While the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. When you find the spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow.

Strands still isn’t on the New York Times games app, but you can play it right here.

All Today’s Strands Answers

I thought today’s Strands was super easy, and it’s tricky to give many more hints because today’s theme was so on-point. Think of words that have to do with sewing—what you sew with—tools of the trade, as it were—what sorts of things are created while sewing.

If you need extra help, spoilers below!

Here’s the full list of words:

  • Seam
  • Thread
  • Cloth
  • Needle
  • Stitch
  • Thimble
  • Patch

Today’s Strands Breakdown

Today’s Strands was as easy as yesterday’s with another theme word that was far, far too obvious. I’m not sure why some days are so tricky and some are so painfully obvious that it’s hardly a challenge, but here we are. I saw SEAM almost instantly and after that THREAD moments later. Basically every word after that came along almost the moment I’d finished the prior one, and once I had CLOTH and NEEDLE the Spangram, TAILORING, which in theory could have been tricky, was already mapped out for me. THIMBLE and PATCH and STITCH came next in rapid succession. Hopefully tomorrow we get something slightly resembling a challenge!
