Jennie is on the rise on the Hot 100 this week. The Blackpink star climbs on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S. with her biggest solo smash, “One of the Girls.” As her collaboration with The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp surges once again, it helps her tie with another one of the most successful musicians from her home country on the most competitive chart in America.
This frame, “One of the Girls” improves from No. 76 to No. 70. The tune manages to step up as it hits 17 weeks spent on the Hot 100, which is one of the longest stays for any South Korean solo artist in the history of the chart.
Now that “One of the Girls” has racked up 17 stays on the Hot 100, the single ties as the third-longest-charting song by any South Korean solo artist in U.S. history. Jennie is now on the same level as BTS singer Jung Kook, who has managed the same showing–more than once, actually.
Two years ago, Jung Kook joined pop singer Charlie Puth on his single “Left and Right.” That tune ended up living on the Hot 100 for 17 weeks, and it has ranked as one of the longest-charting tracks by any South Korean artist credited outside of a group ever since.
The record for the most weeks on the Hot 100 for any single by a South Korean solo musician is still held by Psy, and it likely will be for a long time to come. His smash “Gangnam Style” managed 31 frames on the tally more than a decade ago.
Recently, Jung Kook reset this ranking with his latest solo hit. “Standing Next to You” spent 19 weeks on the Hot 100 before finally falling off the list earlier this year.
“One of the Girls” is still performing well, and it seems like the cut may continue to hold on and find space on the Hot 100 for some time to come. If the single can live on the tally for two more turns–which is not certain–Jennie will tie with Jung Kook once again.
