As we head towards the second part of the Crownfall saga Valve has released a small patch for Dota 2 that has promoted some of the first Dota Labs features to the full game and added a ton of sets for you to vote on.
While this is a tiny patch, and certainly not the gameplay patch everyone is waiting for, it is a welcome one as it makes some very useful changes. The most notable change is that after being introduced as a test a few months ago, the first Dota Labs feature has been promoted to being an actual feature, showing the system works. Now, the option to have your own health bar be different to the rest has been added to the main settings menu and can be found under Options and then Interface.
Other Dota Labs features have also been improved, with additional controls being made available for the overlay map options, improved data in the pre-match analytics pop up and the ability to treat target modifiers as toggles rather than holds, which is a major improvement for anyone using that feature.
Valve has also added a direct feedback button to the Dota Labs menu, meaning you can send them feedback on the features directly through the game. This is in response to the solid response that the feedback form on the Crownfall page has received.
Speaking of Crownfall, the other big change in this patch is the addition of a fan favorite feature; the ability to vote on which cosmetic items get added to the game. This time it’s a vote for the sets that will appear in the upcoming Collector’s Cache, which will arrive as part of a future Crownfall update. Voting is open until May 21 and is available on the Dota 2 homepage. There are 248 sets to choose from and some of them are incredible.
This patch will likely be the last until we get the second act of the Crownfall series, which is expected towards the middle of the month. After the initial disappointment around the Crownfall patch thousands of players returned to the game based on the hype the update brought with it. Now fans are excited to see what the next patch brings, but if it doesn’t also come with a gameplay patch many will be disappointed as Dota still has big problems with going high ground and the timings of the lane being so static.
