Tiffany, founded in 1837 and renovated by LVMH since that time, is more exciting than ever. The building is now called The Landmark, on 5th Avenue and 57th Street. It has been renovated and three top floors have been totally redone. Today visitors can enter the store and really visit a museum-like environmet with modern art on display. It certainly enhances the merchandise.
This is LVMH’s prestige flagship store and is a must destination for visitors to New York City. Merchandise is tastefully displayed. Startling are the modern paintings displayed and the electric landscape of New York City. It was all done in good taste under the direction of Peter Marino.
Peter Marino is a New York architect who heads his own design firm he founded in 1978. His works includes award winning residential , retail, cultural and hospitality projects worldwide. One of the first architects to understand the possibilities for changing landscape of art patronage. He conceptualized the “Landmark” building and supervised the execution.
Here are some of the artists currently on display: Richard Prince 2012/2013, Francesco Clemente Agenus Novus IX and X, 2922, Rashid Johnon, Bruise Painting Diptych “jive Den” 2021, Michelangelo Pistoletto Peter Marino 2022 and special displays on the 9th floor with Julian Schnabel. Peter Marino 2022, Julian Schnabel Untitled (Girl without eyes) 2001.
It is worth a visit. The main floor greets you with a massive jewelry display. The circular stairway invites you to other floors. The artworks and artifacts are from the Peter Marino Art Foundation who will change the exhibition from time to time. The art represents forty years of collecting by Mr. Marino..
Of course, the dazzling collection of jewelry, glass works and silver attract luxury costumers who enjoy or give gifts of the fine products. Always packaged in the Tiffany Blue Box, make a perfect gift. Jewelry designs by Paloma Picasso and Elsa Peretti are highly prized possessions.
Most important is the iconic Tiffany blue box. It is the hallmark of the company and is prized by the receiver. My personal experience, during a visit to Japan, was that the box was more prized than the gift within the box.
