Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Family Feud, The Price Is Right, Let’s Make a Deal and so on. A successful game show – network or syndication – can last for decades. And when it ends (if it ever does), it eventually comes back in reboot form. In other words, it isn’t always that often that you hear of a brand new game show format getting cleared on stations across the country in first-run syndication.
Today there is news of one.
The name of the stripped (Monday to Friday) game show is Flip Side, the host is Jaleel White, the distributor is CBS Media Ventures, and the newbie pits two teams of players against each other to test them on how they think two different groups of people feel about the same issue. The teams compete for a shot at $10,000 by guessing the top answers based on anonymous surveys.
Flip Side debuts in national syndication on CBS stations on Monday, September 9.
Jaleel White, of course, is firmly entrenched in pop culture as Steve Urkel on Family Matters. But he also hosted two seasons of Total Blackout, has been a recurring celebrity guest on 25 Words or Less and Pictionary, and set a record for most points scored in the bonus round on Celebrity Family Feud.
Did he do that? Yes he did!
Flip Side is a Game Show Enterprises Studios production for CBS Media Ventures with Jay James, Corin Nelson and Rich Sirop serving as executive producers. T. Jones serves as co-executive producer. Cleve Keller and Dave (Keller/Noll) and Ken Ross serve as executive producers.
