It’s Monday again! I guess in some places or cultures that might be a good thing. Moon cults probably revere this day. Astronauts may have some superstitious attachment to it (and to Sunday, of course). For many, it’s the start of a new work week. For me, it’s the start of a bit of fun travel, though I’ll still be penning these Wordle guides every day.

Funny how close this Wordle was to yesterday’s. Was that a coincidence? Intentional? It’s impossible to say. They should make a video game where you skate around on roller-skates with a stake that you kill vampires with. I’d play it.
My guesses were pretty good today—CRANE left me with 49 words and two green boxes; SLOTH slashed that to 3 options and gave me two new letters; STAGE was so, so very close but no cigar and finally STAKE for the win. But the really, really, really weird thing about my guessing game today? For what I do think is the very first time, I guessed the exact same words as the Wordle Bot:
This never happens because I almost never use CRANE or the Bot’s favorite word, but today I thought “Why not?” Then I guessed SLOTH because I figured it would cover a lot of good letters I might need. Then STAGE seemed more likely than STAKE and, well, you get the picture. Jinx!

How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
