What To Stream This Weekend On Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV And More

News Room

It’s a big week for new shows and there are even some movies you should definitely check out—depending on which of the myriad streaming services you subscribe to, of course. I’m actually in the Big Apple, my second-ever trip to New York City and I’m only here for the weekend, so I’ll keep my preamble on the brief side. I will not be doing much TV or movies this weekend, because I need to go out and explore! What should I do? Any tips? Hit me up on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Alright, let’s dive right in!

Each week, I scour the internet for all the best new stuff coming to Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+ and more. I also toss in new VOD options, theatrical releases and other bonuses—including 4K Blu-ray releases—because even though this is a streaming guide, we should never limit ourselves. If there’s anything you’re watching that I missed, let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook

We’ll start off with everything new this week. Let’s dive right in!

New To Stream

The Rings Of Power (Prime Video)

Amazon’s huge, big-budget prequel Lord of the Rings series is back for a second season and while it’s mostly reviewing quite well—shockingly well, if you ask me—I have found the first three episodes to be dull, confusing and in many ways even less enjoyable than Season 1. Still, if you’re a fan of the series you’ll have plenty to be excited about with three very long episodes to dig into and then weekly releases after that. You can read my review of the three-episode premiere here.

Only Murders In The Building (Hulu)

Of course, if you want to watching something that’s genuinely good, with great writing and performances and a fun mystery you can do a lot worse than the fourth season of Only Murders In The Building. People say I’m a hater, but man do I love this show and the opening salve is so, so very good. New episodes drop Tuesdays. Read my review here.

The Deliverance (Netflix)

Respected director Lee Daniels brings us this very, very creepy looking Netflix original movie inspired by a true story—or, well, a story that may or may not be true. If you like possession horror thriller movies this one should definitely scratch that itch. Also, I haven’t seen Glenn Close in anything for a hot minute.

Fall Guy (Peacock)

I still haven’t watched Fall Guy. I missed it in theaters and then it was out on VOD but I knew if I paid for it then it would immediately drop on a streaming service. It’s a shame that it’s on Peacock and not Netflix or Prime Video but oh well, better that than nowhere at all. Time to finally watch the Ryan Gosling / Emily Blunt action movie that—despite its appealing stars and good reviews—bombed spectacularly at the box-office.

Alien Romulus Pitch Meeting

I don’t watch a ton of YouTube but I love Ryan George’s ‘Pitch Meeting’ videos that always do such a phenomenal job at picking apart why shows and movies don’t work. Not only is he insightful, he’s hilarious. Even movies I genuinely like he can make fun of in a way that I can get behind. Well, I did not like Alien: Romulus at all, and this video pretty much sums up why.

Ongoing Series

Bad Monkey (Apple TV) . I’m a little behind on the Vince Vaughn led mystery-comedy Bad Monkey because I’m traveling, but man is this a great show so far! I really need to write a review. Apple keeps releasing the best stuff out there. I can’t think of another streamer that has such a great ratio of good stuff to fluff.

Sunny (Apple TV) starring Rashida Jones, is about a woman whose husband and son disappear. She’s left with her husband’s robot, Sunny, as she tries to unravel the mystery of her missing family in Kyoto, Japan. I’m behind one episode, but I wish I’d chosen to recap this weekly because it’s so unique and fascinating and well-done.

Industry (HBO / Max) has taken over the empty Sunday slot from House of the Dragon on Max and HBO. The series is in its third season and I only ever learned about it last week, but it sounds like a pretty good drama about ambitious young people in London’s world of finance.

The Serpent Queen (Starz) starring Samantha Morton as Catherine De Medici in this historical drama filled with scheming and politics during the 16th century in France. One of the highest-rated shows in this guide with a 100% critic and 92% audience score.

Pachinko (Apple TV) is a show about multiple generations of Korean immigrants trying to make it in a hostile Japanese society. The second season is airing weekly on Apple TV every Friday.
