Blackpink singer Lisa is back on multiple Billboard charts this week with her latest solo offering. The superstar teamed up with Rosalía for “New Woman,” which launches fairly high on the company’s worldwide rankings. As the track debuts, Lisa matches a record set by a musical act she knows very well: the band that made her a household name.
“New Woman” opens at No. 6 on the Billboard Global Excl. US this week. The single is a quick hit all around the world, and it marks Lisa’s fourth trip to the loftiest tier on the tally.
With a fourth win to her name, Lisa is now tied with Blackpink in terms of the number of top 10s both artists have secured on the Billboard Global Excl. US. It’s impressive that she’s managed to match the performance of the group that brought her to prominence–and if she’s got more music on the way, she may soon pass them.
In September 2021, Lisa earned her first two solo hits on the Billboard Global Excl. US. “Lalisa” opened in the runner-up rung that month, and her second smash wasn’t far behind. “Money,” which was released at the same time, eventually rose to No. 7 in October.
Just last month, Lisa hit No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. US for the first time, becoming one of a very small number of solo Asian acts to do so. “Rockstar,” which kicked off this latest era of her time on her own, opened atop the tally.
Blackpink, meanwhile, has already accrued three No. 1s. They pushed their singles “Lovesick Girls,” “Pink Venom,” and “Shut Down” to the summit between 2020 and 2022. Their collaboration with Selena Gomez, the poppy “Ice Cream,” only rose as high as No. 6.
One other member of Blackpink is close to matching Lisa, and she could do so soon. Jennie has thus far pushed three tracks into the top 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. US. The other two singers who make up the girl group, Jisoo and Rosé, have both nabbed just one thus far.
