Sunday is here. Good old lazy Sunday. A day for rest and relaxation. A day for lounging about, reading books, watching all the great shows and movies that are out right now, and—of course—solving word puzzles like Wordle, Strands, Spelling Bee and the New York Times Mini Crossword. Let’s solve today’s, shall we?

This was a surprisingly tricky Mini today! Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.

ACROSS

1 — One of Franklin’s certainties in life — TAXES

6 — Human voice at the end of a phone tree, say — AGENT

7 — One might be thrown in surprise — PARTY

8 — “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s __” — AMORE

9 — Smokin’ hot — SEXY

DOWN

1 — Appetizers like croquetas and patatas bravas — TAPAS

2 — One’s best effort, so to speak — AGAME

3 — Search for: “google” :: make a copy of: “___” — XEROX

4 — Diary passage — ENTRY

5 — Eyelid irritation — STYE

This was . . . surprisingly tricky, though that’s not why it took me 4:09 to finish. I actually opened the puzzle up and then was working on something else for a couple minutes, forgetting briefly that this was timed. Still—excuses aside—I struggled a bit. For one thing, I initially entered DEATH instead of TAXES, which set me back. Then I found myself a little stumped on 6-Across and 2-Down. Even when I had AGAME in there, I was pronouncing it how you would AGAPE, basically. I’m still confused by 3-Down’s hint. Oh well, I solved it eventually! How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
