It’s Wordle Wednesday, which means I give you fine Wordlers an extra challenge before we solve the puzzle. You may have encountered this one before, but here’s a riddle:

All in mail, never clinking.”

The Answer:
Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
The Wordle Bot did not like my second guess, and chastised me—MANIC would have been better—but I still got this in three. SLIDE left me with just 27 possible solutions, but PIQUE was, indeed, rather silly as far as guesses go. I just thought of it and popped it in. Perhaps it piqued my interest. In any case, I lucked out big time with my third guess, NICHE, which just so happened to be the Wordle!
Competitive Wordle Score
Once again, I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying the Bot. 1 point for me!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “niche” comes from French, meaning “recess” or “corner,” derived from the Latin nidus (“nest”). It originally referred to an architectural alcove and later evolved to mean a specialized role or position.
