Another year, another record high viewer tally for The Super Bowl. And another example of why the linear broadcast model is still alive and well.
Fox Sports is projecting a record 126 million viewers across Fox and streaming partner Tubi (and NFL digital properties) for the Philadelphia Eagles’ 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Comparably, that is more than two million viewers above the then record 123.7 million for Kansas City’s win over the San Francisco 49ers last year on CBS and Paramount+.
Fox is reporting a peak 135.7 million viewers in the second quarter (from 8-8:15 p.m. ET), prior to Kansas City scoring, and a record 14.5 million viewers digitally (with 13.6 million for Tubi). Data is based on the Nielsen Fast Nationals and the Tubi/NFL First Party Analytics.
Updated ratings are expected to be released by Nielsen tomorrow morning.
Results for the third season premiere of Fox game show The Floor, hosted by Rob Lowe, which followed The Super Bowl were not available at press time.
