Madonna has etched her name in music history as one of the most successful artists of all time. Her chart-topping achievements span across the globe, but she has always held a special place in the hearts of fans based in the United Kingdom. While some of her recent releases may not have achieved the same level of success as her earlier works, Madonna has hit a significant milestone with her latest single, proving that she remains a force to be reckoned with.
In the latest edition of the U.K. singles chart, Madonna’s collaboration with The Weeknd and Playboy Carti, titled “Popular,” climbs from No. 27 to No. 18, reaching a new peak position. The song has been steadily gaining momentum in one of the largest music markets in the world, and it is slowly gaining ground.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that “Popular” marks Madonna’s first top 20 hit in the U.K. in nearly 14 years. The last time she reached such a high on the chart was in 2009 with her single “Celebration,” which soared to No. 3. Since then, Madonna has released several tracks that have made their way onto the chart, but none have come close to the upper reaches of the ranking.
In 2015, Madonna’s single “Living For Love” came close to breaking into the top 20, peaking at No. 26, but it ended up falling just short of the mark.
“Popular” narrowly missed out on entering the top 20 when it debuted at No. 21 several weeks back. Despite that start, the song has maintained a steady presence on the chart, lingering just below the No. 20 spot for nearly a month.
Since the release of “Popular,” Madonna has introduced yet another single to the U.K. songs chart. Teaming up with Sam Smith, she released “Vulgar,” but unfortunately, it did not achieve the same level of success. The song debuted at No. 69 and only managed to remain on the chart for a single week, at least so far.
