While occasionally things spiral out of control in Diablo 4, like a damage glitch that was briefly letting Barbarians do anywhere from 25 to 300 billion damage before it was patched, there are still ways to crank up your numbers probably tenfold from what you’re doing now, even in the endgame.
Yesterday, YouTuber Moxsy posted a video first showing him doing nearly 1 billion damage, then later, 1.8 billion damage in a single hit, which I believe is the highest non-Barbarian glitch damage we’ve seen. I’ve known Moxsy since the Borderlands 3 days, and since then I have seen him use buildcrafting and math to do things like one-shot bosses on the highest difficulty levels of every game he plays. Diablo 4 is no exception.
Here’s a video of his latest damage surge so you can see the proof for yourself:
If there’s a higher single damage tick number in the game, I haven’t seen it. And again, the glitched Barbarians do not count. As you can see, the class is Druid, and it’s a Werewolf Shred build. Diablo, pre-launch, said that Druids were one of the best endgame classes and well, here we are.
Moxsy previously did a video about this build which routinely can get 10 million damage a hit outside of these enormously spiky super-procs, which happened after this was filmed. But it’s essentially the same build.
One of the key Aspects here is Stormclaw’s, which has Critical Strikes with Shred dealing 30-45% of the damage dealt as Lightning damage to the target and surrounded enemies.
This can be combined with the Unique Waxing Gibbous to gain Stealth when killing enemies with Shred, which then grants Ambush to guarantee Critical Strikes for 1-2.5 seconds. This creates an interaction where Shred does a moderate amount of damage, but the Stormclaw’s aspect then scales the lightning damage wildly outside of that. This is called “double dip” damage, which applies to damage scaling in many different games, and it appears interactions in Diablo 4 as well, Moxsy more fully explains it in the video itself if you really want to know the math behind it.
You also want to stack damage additions, like Envenom which deals more Critical damage to poisoned enemies. There’s the Legendary Node Heightened Malic that deals 45% more damage total when there are 3 or more poisoned enemies nearby. This will actually apply twice to both Shred damage and then total damage. Though even Moxsy isn’t quite sure yet how this hit the full multipliers to get to the 1.8 billion damage he’s seeing now.
If you want every single skill node and paragon board point, you can check out the build guide here on dpscheck.gg. Even if you can’t get it exactly perfect it’s still going to steamroll most content as one of the best builds in the game. And Blizzard has been pretty light with the nerfs so far.
