Although Ateez didn’t claim the top spot on the Billboard 200 with their latest studio offering, they come remarkably close this time around. While it’s frustrating to come so close to the throne and miss out, they can take pride in the fact that they have secured their first-ever champion on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. Their new project, The World EP.2: Outlaw, storms in with the highest sales number of the week.
The K-pop favorites start their new EP, The World EP.2: Outlaw, at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart, selling 101,000 copies, according to Billboard. This achievement marks Ateez’s first chart-topping position on the Top Album Sales chart.
The World EP.2: Outlaw not only secures Ateez’s first No. 1 position on the Top Album Sales chart but also represents their highest sales figure to date. Billboard’s report highlights the band’s increasing popularity in the United States, as evidenced by their strong sales performance with each new release.
Ateez has come agonizingly close to reaching the No. 1 spot on the Top Album Sales chart in the past. Their previous projects, The World EP.1: Movement in 2022 and Spin Off: From The Witness in 2023, both missed the top spot by a narrow margin, stalling in the runner-up rung. They have consistently proven their commercial success by sending four different releases into the top 10 on the ranking, and now they’ve scored a leader.
While The World EP.2: Outlaw opens at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, falling just short of surpassing Morgan Wallen’s country release, One Thing at a Time. Wallen’s album holds the top position for the fourteenth nonconsecutive week on the all-encompassing ranking of the most-consumed titles in the U.S. Despite the close competition, Ateez’s latest EP managed to achieve 105,500 equivalent album units, the majority of which were actual sales, while Wallen moved another 110,000 equivalent units.
