Beyoncé Might Take U2’s Job At The Sphere In Las Vegas

News Room

Las Vegas’ The Sphere, a newly-unveiled high-tech performance venue, is on the lookout for its second chapter. Currently, U2’s highly-successful U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere residency is ongoing, but not for much longer. Now, the hunt is on for the next headliner, and according to one report, it seems that a candidate has been chosen.

The New York Post reports that the team working on The Sphere has set its sights on Beyoncé to take the stage next.

Details surrounding the potential collaboration are scarce, which isn’t surprising, as that’s par for the course when it comes to Beyoncé. The report states that the Grammy champion could potentially host a concert residency of her own, something that would surely drive fans of the singer wild and have thousands flocking to Las Vegas.

Sources suggest that negotiations are underway, with The Sphere’s team reaching out to Beyoncé, but such an ask won’t come cheap. Reportedly, the singer’s team is requesting a substantial $10 million to produce a high-tech stage show. That’s a hefty price tag, but not one that’s unheard of. U2 apparently needed a similar sum to create the stage show they wanted.

Both Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother and manager, and her husband Jay-Z, have reportedly taken tours of The Sphere, separate from one another. Whether the superstar herself has done the same is not clear.

U2 introduced The Sphere to the world this past September. The rock band had no issue selling tickets to the venue, which can seat 20,000 people at a time. In fact, the group recently extended its residency well into 2024. Currently, U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere’s last date is February 18. After that, there are no scheduled events or performances.

Beyoncé is riding high off of the success of her Renaissance World Tour, which garnered acclaim from fans and critics and ranks as one of the most commercially successful female-fronted tours ever. Next up for the chart-topper is the release of her concert film Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, which is set to arrive in theaters in early December.
