Blackpink singer Jennie is back on the Billboard charts this week, and this time, she’s returned without her bandmates. The superstar’s new solo hit makes a notable debut, bringing the singer to one of the most important charts published by Billboard for the first time.
Jennie’s new song, “You & Me,” launches inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart, the weekly ranking of the top-selling tunes in America. The cut, a solo affair, opens at No. 6 on the tally. According to Luminate, “You & Me” sold 4,348 copies in its debut tracking frame.
“You & Me” marks Jennie’s first placement on the Digital Song Sales chart on her own. She has previously reached the ranking as a member of Blackpink—several times, in fact. The girl group has now sent 10 different cuts to the tally. Half of those placements have reached the top 10 on the tally, but so far, the band has yet to snag a No. 1.
Jennie is now the third member of Blackpink to reach the Digital Song Sales chart. Lisa is so far the most successful from the group, as her only two solo cuts, “Lalisa” and “Money,” both spent time inside the top 10. The tunes peaked at Nos. 6 and 8, respectively.
Fellow Blackpink star Rosé has also earned a pair of wins on the Digital Song Sales chart, though her hits didn’t rise quite as high as Lisa’s. Rosé’s “On the Ground” peaked at No. 10, while “Money” stalled at No. 15. The only other singer in Blackpink, Jisoo, has yet to break onto the roster.
“You & Me” may be Jennie’s first hit on the Digital Song Sales chart, but it isn’t her first placement on one of Billboard’s purchase-focused rankings. Several years ago, when she released her debut solo single, “Solo,” she scored a No. 1 on her own. That tune went right to the top spot on the World Digital Song Sales chart, which Blackpink has also conquered before.
