BTS member V arrives on this week’s Billboard 200 chart, marking his solo debut without his fellow bandmates. His inaugural solo EP, Layover, starts in the No. 2 position on the ranking of the most-consumed titles in the United States, earning the star a very healthy opening spot.
Layover secures the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 with exactly 100,000 equivalent units. This figure makes it only the third solo project by a BTS member to debut on the chart with at least 100,000 equivalent units. Layover earns the third-largest debut on the chart among all solo projects by BTS members.
Before the release of Layover, RM’s Indigo held the distinction of being the solo album from the band with the third-largest debut on the Billboard 200. Weeks after its initial release, the album climbed to No. 3 on the chart, driven by its physical format availability, accumulating a total of 83,000 equivalent units in one week.
The record for the largest debut on the Billboard 200 among all BTS members’s solo projects still belongs to Jimin. His EP titled Face also entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2, moving 164,000 equivalent units during its debut frame. That achievement was fueled by the EP’s No. 1 Hot 100 hit single, “Like Crazy.”
Suga’s D-Day album takes second place in terms of total units moved during its debut week on the Billboard 200 when looking at the BTS singers and their solo ventures. Released under his Agust D moniker, the singer and rapper’s latest solo collection found a spot inside the top 10 on the chart, amassing 140,000 equivalent units earlier this year.
Layover, V’s highly-anticipated solo project, trails only Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore album Guts on the Billboard 200. The chart-topping performance of Rodrigo’s second offering marks her return to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, following her debut full-length Sour, which also opened at the summit. Guts moved an impressive 302,000 equivalent units during its first week of availability.
