La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) was a global superhit for Netflix, becoming the most watched series worldwide. The unforgettable characters and nail-biting suspense captivated audiences worldwide and created a legion of die hard fans. The Spanish series, which came to an end in 2021, even inspired a Korean adaptation, showcasing the storyline’s global appeal and cultural influence.

Now, one of the coolest, wittiest and most fun to watch characters is getting his own show: Berlín. Charismatic and versatile actor Pedro Alonso, who played the role of Berlín, the clever brother of “El profesor” (Álvaro Morte) and one of the masterminds of the show’s bank heist, returns with a new gang and plans for another job with a multimillion-dollar payoff.

The spinoff is actually a prequel of La Casa de Papel, taking place before the Spanish mint’s heist. It follows the clever, hedonistic and suave Berlín as he prepares for one of his most extraordinary heists: making $44 million worth of jewels vanish. Netflix today announced it will release the much anticipated Berlín on December 29 and dropped a catchy trailer, which quickly racked up almost a hundred thousand views.

Berlín’s new gang consists of Michelle Jenner (Isabel) plays Keila, an eminence in electronic engineering; Tristán Ulloa (Fariña) is Damián, a philanthropic professor and Berlin’s confidant; Begoña Vargas (Welcome to Eden) plays Cameron, who always lives on the edge; Julio Peña Fernández (Through My Window) brings to life Roi, Berlin’s faithful squire; and Joel Sánchez plays Bruce, the relentless man of action in the gang. Itziar Ituño (La Casa de Papel) and Najwa Nimri (La Casa de Papel) come back to their roles as policewomen Raquel Murillo and Alicia Sierra respectively.

Samantha Siqueiros (Lady of Steel), Julien Paschal (One Year, One Night), Masi Rodríguez and Rachel Lascar (Through my window) complete the cast.

The eight-episode series was created by Álex Pina (La casa de papel, Sky Rojo) and Esther Martínez Lobato (La casa de papel, Sky Rojo), and written by Álex Pina, Esther Martínez Lobato, David Barrocal, David Oliva and Lorena G. Maldonado. Albert Pintó (Sky Rojo, Malasaña 32), David Barrocal (Sky Rojo) and Geoffrey Cowper (Day Release) direct.
