This holiday season has been very good to Cher. The singer’s debut seasonal album, Christmas, has proved to be a major success for her. The CD has sold well, and the music featured on it has helped her debut new Billboard charts she’s never appeared on before and reach previously unknown heights on others. On at least one list this week, Cher hits a new high this with her first hit.
“DJ Play a Christmas Song” advances on this week’s edition of the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart. The tally ranks the most-streamed tunes in America that Billboard classifies as either dance or electronic–or, more often than not, both.
Cher’s current single dances to a new best position of No. 4. Last week, it debuted at No. 15, and now it’s jumped up the tally. As the holiday season progresses, it’s possible that the tune will continue its ascent.
“DJ Play a Christmas Song” has become Cher’s first top 10 hit on the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart. Last week, it gave the Grammy winner her first placement on the tally.
Cher still has a few spots to climb before she can claim her first No. 1 on the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart. Beyoncé’s new single “My House” falls from the top spot, where it debuted last frame, to No. 3. It is replaced by Kenya Grace’s breakout hit “Strangers” in first place. Dua Lipa’s “Houdini” is a non-mover at No. 2.
While she might not be familiar to the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart, Cher has succeeded on other genre-specific Billboard rankings. She’s previously seen songs reach the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales tallies, including her new holiday hit.
