A new trend has popped up in the music industry that sees musicians with right-leaning political ideals using Donald Trump’s name to score a hit on the Billboard charts. Several artists and groups have managed to reach the weekly lists by including his brand in some way, and this time, another song with the former president’s moniker attached arrives.
A single titled “Latinos For Trump” debuts on two different Billboard charts this week. The song was released by a new group called, simply, Trump Latinos.
“Latinos For Trump” launches highest on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. The tune opens at No. 4 on the tally, ranking as the fourth-bestselling rap cut in the country. Amazingly, the political song outsells the new Doja Cat single, “Demons,” which starts at No. 6.
Over on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, which includes the tracks featured on the Rap Digital Song Sales ranking as well as both hip-hop and R&B tunes, the track performs almost as well. “Latinos For Trump” debuts at No. 5 on that list, while Nicki Minaj’s new single “Last Time I Saw You” opens at No. 1.
“Latinos For Trump” isn’t the only Trump-themed song present on either of these two rankings this week. Last frame, a track titled “First Day Out” by another artist named Trump he Don arrived, and this frame it’s still going strong on both charts. That cut also uses his name and even his mugshot to grab attention, and it worked.
While “Latinos For Trump” may rank as one of the bestselling rap songs in America, it doesn’t quite make it to the all-genre Digital Song Sales list. The tune also didn’t make an impact on more important and competitive charts, like the Hot 100.
Not much is known about the musical act Latinos For Trump, as they seem to be a brand new group. They have three songs posted on their Spotify, including a new tune called “Unity” and a cover of the recent Hot 100 No. 1 “Rich Men North of Richmond” by Oliver Anthony.
