Drake Breaks His Tie With Taylor Swift With Another Major No. 1 Album

News Room

Drake has reasserted his dominance on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his latest release, For All The Dogs. The Canadian rapper has added another No. 1 album to his illustrious career, and in doing so, he’s made history once more.

The album, For All The Dogs, marks Drake’s thirteenth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, which ranks the most-consumed albums and EPs in the U.S. With this achievement, he breaks free from his tie with Taylor Swift, who had also reached 12 No. 1 albums earlier this year when her re-recording of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) topped the charts in July.

Drake’s impressive track record now positions him in third place for the most No. 1 albums in the history of the Billboard charts. He currently trails behind The Beatles, who remain at the top with a staggering 19 chart-topping albums, and Jay-Z, who holds the second spot with 14 No. 1 albums.

Looking ahead, it’s highly probable that Drake will continue onward and match and then eventually surpass Jay-Z in the near future. Drake is extremely prolific, scoring four No. 1 albums in a little over the past 12 months. For his part, Jay-Z hasn’t returned to the top spot on the Billboard 200 since the release of 4:44 in 2017.

For All The Dogs enjoys an impressive entrance on the Billboard 200, boasting one of the most substantial debuts of the year. Billboard reports that the album debuts at No. 1 on the chart with 402,000 equivalent units, including 10,000 pure purchases. Streaming played a significant role in this album’s success, accounting for the bulk of its impressive opening figure, as it launched with 391,000 streaming equivalent albums. That sum is broken down into 514 million streams in the United States alone.
