Eminem’s Greatest Hits Compilation Helps Him Make Billboard History

News Room

Even after decades in the spotlight, Eminem remains one of the most popular hip-hop artists of all time. Interest in everything he does remains incredibly high, and as he continues to release new music, fans still flock to one of his most successful compilations. Now, that title has hit a very special milestone, making Billboard chart history once again.

Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hits is still going strong on the Billboard 200, the weekly ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. As of this frame, the compilation has been present somewhere on the 200-spot chart for 650 weeks.

Curtain Call: The Hits is just the sixth album in U.S. history to rack up at least 650 weeks on the Billboard 200. Currently, the record for the most weeks spent on the tally belongs to Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. That rock set has already earned 981 stays on the tally.

Coming in a somewhat distant second place is Bob Marley and the Wailers’s Legend. That compilation became only the second release to make it to 800 turns on the chart just last week, and it’s still performing well.

In between Marley and Eminem are three other incredibly successful albums: Journey’s Journey’s Greatest Hits (780 weeks), Metallica’s self-titled release (730 weeks) and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits (660 weeks).

Curtain Call: The Hits dips slightly to No. 47 this week, which is an impressive spot for a CD that’s been charting for as long as it has. Though it may have fallen a bit, the title doesn’t decline very far from the No. 45 position it ranked in last time around.

Eminem’s compilation was released in late 2005, and it was an immediate win on the charts. The set featured many of the rapper’s earliest hit singles, such as “My Name Is,” “Without Me,” “Lose Yourself,” and “The Real Slim Shady,” as well as new tracks like “When I’m Gone” and “Shake That.” It went straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified diamond for shifting at least 10 million units in the U.S. alone.
