‘It Ends With Us’ Ends Its Theatrical Run. How Much Did It Make?

News Room

The Blake Lively blockbuster adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel It Ends With Us is done playing in theaters. How much did it earn at the box office?

Directed by Justin Baldoni, It Ends with Us opened in theaters on August 9. The official logline for the film reads, “When a woman’s first love suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with a charming, but abusive neurosurgeon is upended and she realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future.”

Lively stars as Lily Bloom in It Ends with Us, while Brandon Sklenar plays her first love, Atlas Corrigan. Baldoni stars the neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid.

The Numbers indicated that It Ends with Us’ final day in theaters would be Thursday since it was not included in Friday’s theater counts. It Ends with Us earned $5,373 in ticket sales from 433 North American theaters Thursday to end its run with $148,444,508 in domestic ticket sales.

Per the box office tracker, It Ends with Us also made $197,388,816 internationally to bring the film’s worldwide box office tally to $345,833,324 against a $25 million production budget before prints and advertising costs.

How Did Hoover React To The Big-Screen Adaption Of Her Book?

It Ends with Us, of course, was first released as a novel in August 2016 and has sold, per Simon & Schuster, more than 10 million copies worldwide in print, ebook and audio form.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after It Ends with Us was released in theaters, author Colleen Hover said she was “very happy” with the film adaptation.

“It’s very surreal. I think it’s all of the emotions. I’m able to separate it in the sense that I see the book and the film as two completely separate things,” Hoover told THR. “But at the same time, I think they did such a good job condensing this book into a film that I’m very happy with this adaptation and I’m so excited for readers to be able to see it.”

Rotten Tomatoes critics apparently weren’t as happy as Hoover was and gave the romantic drama a 57% “rotten” rating based on 182 reviews.

On the flip side, It Ends with Us got a 90% “fresh” Audience Score from RT users, based on 5,000-plus verified ratings.

Rated PG-13, It Ends with Us is currently available on digital streaming via premium video on demand.
