Jeremy Renner is still very much in recovery mode. The Marvel star is revealing what therapies he’s undergone almost a year after the devastating snow plow accident that left him in critical condition.
Renner was run over by his PistenBully (a 14,330 lb snow plow) on January 1, 2023, by his home in Reno, NV near Lake Tahoe. The actor was helping out his nephew who was stuck in the snow when the plow began to roll away. When he attempted to get back into the vehicle, he was crushed beneath it. He was hospitalized for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.
“I have been exploring EVERY type of therapy since Jan 14th … everyday , countless hours of physical therapy, peptide injections, iv drips and pushes, stem cell and exosomes, red light / IR therapy, hyperbaric chamber 2.0 atmospheres, cold plunge, and the list goes on and on….,” the Hawkeye actor penned on Instagram on Nov. 6.
After listing out his treatments, the Mayor of Kingstown actor noted what’s been his “greatest therapy” in his recovery so far.
“My greatest therapy has been my mind and the will to be here and push to recover and be better,” Renner added. “Be exceptional…I feel it’s my duty to do so. Not to squander my life being spared, but to give back to my family, friends, and all of you whom have empowered me to endure. I thank you all.”
“Your attitude is inspiring. Your fans will always be here for you. Repair, rest, adapt, believe, repeat,” one fan commented on the post. “@jeremyrenner There was never one doubt that you would come back even stronger than before. Thank you for being such an incredible human,” another user replied.
Since the accident, the 52-year-old has regularly posted updates about his health on social media, from documenting his physical therapy sessions to learning how to walk on his own again after 30+ broken bones, a collapsed lung and pierced liver. He even managed to walk the red carpet for the premiere of his Disney+ show Rennervations with a cane.
“I look a little beat up right now, but I promise you this show is what’s propelling me to get better and makes me want to get better every day,” Renner told Variety at the time. “I set out a goal to be walking this carpet. And here I am enjoying it. Otherwise it would have gone to an abyss with no date and lost traction and excitement and I would have been very, very, very frustrated. I’m very excited right now because we’re here.”
Just last month, the actor announced on Instagram that he was working on a new album, Love and Titanium, which is inspired by his healing journey. He called it “A collection of music we wrote about different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year.”
Renner said the process was “painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic,” and tagged the album’s collaborators, which include Grammy-winning producer Walter Afanasieff, songwriter Lee Anna James, producer Brandon Sammons, producer Jason Mater and Jeffrey Teodoro Bonilla.
Love and Titanium does not yet have a release date.
