Jimmy Buffett may be gone, but his music lives on, and there’s more of it on the way. The singer-songwriter’s estate has released two new tracks from the late musician ahead of a full project dropping, and both tunes are collaborations with other beloved musical acts.
On Friday, October 13, Buffett released a pair of new tunes as a double single. The first of the two is called “Mozambique.” The cut is a duet with Americana/country star Emmylou Harris.
The second track included in the new release is called “University of Bourbon Street.” The tune is a collaboration with the famed Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The jazz collective is based in New Orleans, which makes them a perfect fit for the tune.
Both “Mozambique” and “University of Bourbon Street” are set to be featured on Buffett’s upcoming album, Equal Strain on All Parts. The set was announced just days after his death in September after a private years-long battle with cancer. The set is expected on November 3, and it will mark his first—and possibly only—posthumous drop of a complete collection of new music.
As Buffett’s estate announced Equal Strain on All Parts, three tracks from the set were released to excite longtime fans and ease their mourning. On September 8—just a week after his death—Buffett’s new single “Bubbles Up” arrived. It was accompanied by two other tunes, “Like My Dog” and “My Gummie Just Kicked In.”
